Third Annual Golf Tournament
Greetings from The Brian Bill Foundation!
April 5th was our third annual golf tournament. This year it was held at the beautiful TPC Tampa Bay Golf Course in Lutz, Florida. (www.tpctampabay.com) We would like to thank Margarita Martin and all of the staff at the club. The weather was glorious and the golf was very competitive. The day began with the Pasco County Sherriff’s Color Guard, The Highland Pipers and the National Anthem was beautifully sung by Kelli Norkas. Next, we were honored to have Colonel Harbaugh, Director of The Care Coalition, speak about his coalition working closely with The Brian Bill Foundation and need for our program to serve the needs of our warriors. Jake Thomas spoke a thoughtful testimonial as a former participant of our retreat.
It was a sold out tournament as the golfers patiently listened to the program from their golf carts. Then it was off to their starting holes for the round of eighteen to begin. As we watched, we saw several balls come so very close to winning the hole-in-one prize of the MINI Cooper on hole #2. We think that the golfers who played the MINI Cooper hole after being at the Fireball hole with KC’s beautiful wife Lisa may have had a bit looser swing.
As the day progressed, the friendly and charitable golfers became much more secretive about how far under par their teams were and inquisitive about how far under everyone else was.
The silent auction was a great success with golfers and their spouses bidding up a storm while the 50/50 raffle was won by Michael Lentz who graciously donated half back to our foundation. What a great guy!
The award ceremony was accompanied by a lovely American country style cookout by Mission BBQ. Melissa is the best!
We could not have had such a wonderful event without our very generous main sponsors: The Lightning Foundation, Heritage Insurance and Sun Coatings.
Thank you to all of the hole sponsors and all of the golfers who donated and made our golf event such a success.
A special thank you in advance for the donation for the military parachute team for next year’s tournament. We can’t wait and hope to see you all there.
